Mono origins coffees: return to the coffee consumption origin
Wrote at 13:26 by Stefano Urso in: Gossip Café,
Talking about coffee blends we noticed that on the market you can find very good single origin coffees. But the problem is, considering coffee roasters, to find those good single origins in high quantities for industrial processing. Due to that reason coffee roasters introduced coffee blends into the market.
Drinking pure mono origin coffees is like to go back to coffee consumption origin. In fact, not only in the last century but up to fifty years ago most families roasted coffee in their house. They bought it in green beans into the food shops where usually the coffee was sold one bag at a time … and of course all of the same quality.
That habit disappeared in Italy during the 1966 with the famous "anti-smuggling law" that introduced the record of loading and unloading of goods. In that way, suddenly small green coffee traders / retailers disappeared from the market.
