The Car-Puccino, the car that runs on coffee ...

Car-puccino
When the world of coffee, always full of surprises and curiosity, joins the science that’s always looking for new fuels, here comes the England-Car cappuccino, the machine that uses coffee as fuel.

The scientific program "Bang Goes The Theory” (BCC1) created the Car-Puccino converting a Volkswagen Scirocco (bought at a price of 400 pounds) purchased specifically for its similarity with the De Lorean of"  Back to the Future” movie. On the car has been installed a caffettiera- engine installed on the car permits her to move using the gases produced by heating of the coffee beans using hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The Car-Puccino can reach a 100 km/h speed.

The Car-Puccino consumes an average of one kilogram of coffee beans every 5 km, the equivalent of 28 espressos cups per kilometre, and for covering the entire journey from London to Manchester has consumed 11,760 coffees. Unfortunately, the car needs a stop every 60 miles for getting coffee beans refilled, and a every 100 km stop in order to clean the filters by the accumulation of waste during the combustion process. ... This is why the journey test lasted about 10 hours.

Surely this car has not gone unnoticed on the road thanks to the smell of coffee that leaves behind, however, the noble intention of protecting the environment and the wallet did not work. In fact, the coffee machine is from 25 to 50 times more expensive than traditional cars that run on oil derivatives. And it's not environmentally friendly because one of the side products of combustion is carbon monoxide.

The Car-Puccino remains a simply demonstration of what (and how) many “strange” fuels can be adopted on a car. The same machine can also use as fuels: wood, peanut shells, or even agricultural waste .

I love this coffee maker, I used one all through my student days; so I recently bought one from Florence at twice the value if you include post. But nowhere on the Internet that I have seen, does anyone say that when you 'flip' the pot, if it is done .....
