On March 16, 1961, Coop Industria s.r.l. was established to roast coffee on behalf of consumer cooperatives. The plant is situated in Castel Maggiore (Bologna) and employs five people.
Coind, an acronym for Coop Industria, was founded in 1961 in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, in Castel Maggiore, in the province of Bologna. This was the start of a journey that, starting from a small coffee roasting plant founded on the initiative of Coop Consumatori, would over time lead to the birth of one of the most important companies in the sector. The initial goal was simple but ambitious: to supply small cooperative outlets with a superior quality product.
Since its beginnings, Coind has been distinguished by its innovative vision and ability to interpret the new logic of large-scale retailing distribution, then still in its infancy. In a rapidly growing economic environment marked by the expansion of the food industry and the emergence of the mass market, the company demonstrated an extraordinary ability to adapt and develop.
Over the years, in a postwar Italy rediscovering confidence and a desire to build, Coind diversified its activities, expanded its customer portfolio and strengthened its procurement and production processes, always keeping at the center values of solidarity, respect for labor and attention to the environment.

From the small roasting plant of yesteryear, Coind has grown into a modern industry that combines artisanal experience and cutting-edge technology. It now produces about 50% of Italy's private label coffee in Modern Trade, and is active in all major market segments.
The company has 142 employees and a turnover of more than one hundred million euro, confirming it as one of the largest Italian coffee roasters. At the basis of its success the same principles, that have guided it since its beginnings, remain unchanged: the strive for quality, continuous innovation, social commitment and environmental sustainability.
