Anti-cancer prevention begins at the table: very little meat (preferably white) that has not been toasted, plenty of fish and lots of fresh vegetables, flours and whole foods. All accompanied by extra virgin olive oil and a glass of red wine.

This would be the ideal diet to prevent cancer, but research has long investigated several components that, alone or in combination with others, can have a preventive effect. And coffee is among these elements.

Coffee's role in preventing degeneration of the liver compromised by hepatitis or cirrhosis was confirmed in a study published in Hepatologyeconducted on 800 patients: those who drink three cups of coffee a day have a 53 percent decrease in risk compared to those who do not.

In another study, published in theInternational Journal of Cancer, it was found that four daily cups are associated with a halving of the risk of uterine cancer, while a study presented at the meeting of theAmerican Association of Cancer Research indicates that the same dose is associated with a 60 percent lowering of the risk of prostate cancer.
