It may soon be the case that while waiting for them to serve us our nice espresso coffee at the bar, simply placing our cell phone on the counter will recharge it without the need for wires and/or electrical outlets (and without emitting emissions).
In fact, Panasonic has invented a photovoltaic table capable of transforming the sun's natural energy into electricity through panels located in the center, to power electronic devices laid on the rest of the surface.
The system works thanks to the Qi standard, a technology that is based on the principle of induction: simply the table creates an electromagnetic field that generates an induced current in the compatible device resting on top.
Who knows if we will see this new countertop "gadget" soon, surely if it enters the market bartenders will have to prepare to handle the many forgotten cell phones on their bar counter...
