Valle d'Aosta-style coffee is a popular drink in Valle d'Aosta that also represents a moment of socialization, in fact it is customary to drink it in the so-called 'friendship cup' or grolla.

To prepare it pour the coffee, which must be long, into the friendship cup, add sugar, orange and lemon peels. Sprinkle the rim of the cup with sugar, wetting it with grappa and pouring the rest into the coffee. Set fire to the liquid, stirring with a spoon and letting it burn until the sugar on the rim is caramelized. The guests will drink, once the flame is extinguished with the lid on, one after the other and counterclockwise from the different spouts of the cup.
